  • Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, computed tomography and ultrasound: accurate methods for showing visceral adiposity
  • Limitations: high cost, radiation exposure, requirement to intensive training and low availability
  • Visceral adiposity index : as a surrogate index
  • VAI is positively correlated with insulin resistance, functional glycemic disorders and increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.
